Birmingham 2010 3rd MEETING OF THE COMENIUS PROJECT “AS A EUROPEAN I’D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD…”
On
the 15th of October we got to Birmingham for the 4th meeting of
our current project On Saturday we visited Warwick Castle, where we saw the special events such as the Trebuchet, the Falcony display or the dungeons. In the evening we went to Stratford Upon Avon, where we enjoyed the canal, the theatre and the timber houses of the Shakespearian town. On Sunday we did a tour of the city center of the city, went to the Birmingham Museum and Art gallery where we could enjoy The Staffordshire Hoard –the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found- and had lunch in the Edwardian Tea Rooms. After that we enjoyed the exhibition of the photojournalist Steve McCurry. In the afternoon we went for a lovely walk along the canal in the countryside and had dinner at a typical British pub: “Fleur de Lys” where we could pay homage to Mike Brooks, one of the members of our Comenius cell who has recently retired
On Monday we visited Selly Park Technology College for Girls, where we were
welcomed On Tuesday we went to Archbishop Ilsley Catholic Technology College. We toured the school, we saw a group of students rehearsing a performance with steel drums and we couldn’t help trying to play them. It was fun! Then another lovely group of students sang for us beautifully. Again the teachers met to discuss the next project. After school we went shopping to the Bullring and we had our last dinner in Birmingham at an Indian restaurant in the Chinese Quarter. In the morning we met our students and went to the airport. We had a lovely time in Birmingham!
