As a European I´d Like to Teach the World

Welcome!

Bulgaria 2010

3rd MEETING OF THE COMENIUS PROJECT “AS A EUROPEAN I’D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD…”

The 3rd meeting of our Comenius project took place from the 23rd to the 28th of March. We were lucky to avoid the ash cloud from Iceland and could manage to take the three planes that would took us to Varna, the second city in Bulgaria, and one of  our partners in the Comenius adventure. When we arrived there, the host families were waiting for our students who could so integrate in there culture for a few days.

During the weekend we visited the city. On Saturday we went to the Evksinograd residence and saw its cellers, also the dolphinarium and the Sea Garden. On Sunday we went to Velico Turnovo, former capital of the country, where we walked around the medieval part of the city and its castle, and we also visited Arbanasi, a beautiful town nearby. We loved the country and we admired how green it is.

On Monday we participated in the school activities, visiting around and taking part in the project meeting together with our students. Each delegation presented the products of the activity done in each school under the heading “As a European I’d Like to Teach the World How to Use Town Open Spaces in a Creative Way”. After lunch we visited the Planetarium and we walked around the city.

On Tuesday we had an exhibition of the posters that creative students had made and that were related to the mentioned activity. We were interviewed by two different TV channels, one local and another one national. Our students, together with the other foreign students played volleyball and basketball matches with Bulgarian kids. After that e.ach country planted a tree as the symbol of our partnership and European citizenship. As a closing activity we could enjoy a traditional music festival in which one of the Belgian students took part showing us different moves of break-dance. Again it was a very emotional event that made different cultures closer to each other.

Once more, when we came back home on the 3rd of March, the satisfaction that we brought in our hearts was heavier than our own luggage.
